BSc Geology (360 Credits)

This degree is accredited by the Geological Society, London, with compulsory field classes and field mapping project. It is a traditional geology degree with modern, state-of-the-art digital teaching methods. Students attend four compulsory 10 day residential field classes (15 Credits each: from Scotland, Greece, Lanzarote, Cyprus, Morocco) and a conduct a compulsory 40 day independent mapping project (60 Credits) of an area of their choice (e.g. in California, Australia, French Alps, Scotland, Namibia are recent examples). Overseas students attend the field classes. In addition to the compulsory fieldwork, an introductory 180 credits are compulsory with a choice of optional advanced modules to make the count up to 360. The degree can be taken over 4 or 6 years. Geology (BSc with Distance Learning option 4 year honours degree)

BSc Earth Sciences (360 Credits)

This degree has identical state-of-the-art taught modules to the BSc Geology, but field classes are optional (15 Credits each: from Scotland, Greece, Lanzarote, Cyprus, Morocco) and a lab or computer based project (60 Credits) replaces the independent mapping project. Students take more of the optional taught modules to gain a count of 360. This will suit those for whom travel for field classes is not possible, or those who prefer to choose a more theoretical or numerical approach to Earth Sciences. The degree can be taken over 4 or 6 years. Earth Science (BSc with Distance Learning option 4 or 6 year honours degree)

BSc Environmental Geology (360 Credits) 

This degree has identical state-of-the-art taught modules to the BSc Geology, four compulsory 10 day residential field classes (15 Credits each: from Scotland, Greece, Lanzarote, Cyprus, Morocco) and a compulsory environmental project (60 Credits) – the other difference from BSc Geology is that advanced modules in environmental topics are compulsory to make up the count of 360. The degree can be taken over 4 or 6 years. Environmental Geology (BSc with Distance Learning option 4 or 6 year honours degree)

BSc Planetary Sciences with Astronomy (360 Credits)

This degree shares some modules with the BSc Geology, but augments these with additional state-of-the-art modules in astronomy and planetary geology. Field classes are optional (15 Credits each: from Scotland, Greece, Lanzarote, Cyprus, Morocco and a dedicated Planetary geology field class) and a lab or computer based planetary geology or astronomy project (60 Credits) is compulsory. Introductory modules are compulsory with a choice of advanced modules, to include specific planetary or astronomy options, and make the count up to 360. The degree can be taken over 4 or 6 years. Planetary Science with Astronomy (BSc with Distance Learning option 4 or 6 year honours degree)

Certificate of Higher Education (120 Credits)

We offer a variety of these certificates. Students take modules from the introductory parts of our degrees. They may suit those who wish to study, but not for a whole degree, or those who may need an introduction to gain access to a degree at a later date.

Graduate Certificate (60 Credits)

We offer a variety of these certificates. Students take modules from the more advanced parts of our degrees. They may suit those who wish to top up their existing degree qualifications for interest or for access to masters courses at other institutions.
